TLD ISAC strengthens Cyber Resilience in the face of evolving threats

The Top-Level-Domain Information and Sharing Analysis Center (TLD ISAC) was founded in 2023 with the aim of strengthening the security and resilience of European top-level domains. As major cyber threats and technical challenges continue to grow, collaboration among industry participants plays an essential role.

Robert Schischka, CTO of nic.at and Co-Chair of the Steering Committee since mid 2024 highlights the importance of shared knowledge: ”Information sharing is a critical success factor in preparing for and responding to the many security challenges. While zero-day exploits are very real, the vast majority of incidents are based on known tactics and techniques and could often be prevented or at least detected earlier through the application of existing knowledge. ISACs are an excellent opportunity to share observations and experiences in a trusted group within the TLD ecosystem.”

The working group's initiatives include “Threat Landscape Analysis (TLA)”. The analysis is specifically tailored to the TLD industry and enables a systemic investigation and evaluation of cyber threats, in order to generate or optimize security measures based on the results. Another key project is the development of the CENTR Member Security Maturity Model (CM-SMM). This standardized, hybrid model, tailored to the industry, allows registries to assess their individual security maturity at a given point in time and to measure progress.

During the second TLD ISAC conference in November 2024, current case studies, research results, trends and news were also presented and discussed. For.at, the TLD ISAC provides a platform for a timely exchange of information with peers in a secure and trusted environment. In an era of increasingly complex threats and heightened security requirements, this makes it much easier for us to respond to these challenges more quickly.

ABOUT TLD ISAC

The TLD ISAC emerged from a CENTR working group on cybersecurity and currently comprises 16 TLD members, consisting of experts from European domain registries, specialists from the IT sector, and public authorities. The diverse stakeholders collaborate to identify current security threats at an early stage and develop appropriate measures. For more information, visit https://www.tld-isac.eu/
